ICMTB 2026 — International Conference on Medicine and Translational Biosciences

The International Conference on Medicine and Translational Biosciences (ICMTB 2026) is a premier interdisciplinary platform bringing together researchers, clinicians, academics, and industry professionals from around the world. Hosted by Western Balkans University in Tirana, Albania, this conference aims to bridge the gap between basic science discoveries and their clinical applications, fostering innovation in healthcare delivery and biomedical research.

Prof. Dr. Felipe Calvo is a distinguished radiation oncologist and Chair Professor at the Cancer Center Universidad de Navarra. He serves as a Consultant at the Proton Therapy Unit and has made significant contributions to the field of intraoperative radiation therapy. His research spans translational oncology, clinical trials, and innovative approaches to cancer treatment. He is a globally recognized expert with extensive publications in high-impact journals.

Prof. Dr. Vasif Hasirci

METU / Acibadem University

Professor Vasif N. Hasirci is an expert in the biomedical, biotechnological, and nanotechnological applications of natural and synthetic polymers. He is the Founding Director of the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering R&D Center at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara (2011). He served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences at METU and later continued his academic career at Acibadem University as Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, where he also served as Head of the Graduate Department of Biomaterials (2018-2025) and Founding Director of the Biomaterials R&D Center (since 2020). He is an Associate Editor of the journals Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology and Exploration of BioMat-X, and a member on the Editorial Boards of various journals such as Biomaterials, Bioactive Materials, J. Biomaterials Science: Polymer Edn., and Nanomedicine. He is a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the International Union of Societies of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) (UK), and an Honorary Member of the European Society for Biomaterials. He is the Founding President of the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Association (Turkey) (2008) and one of the Founders of the Biomedical Science and Technology Symposia (BIOMED) (1994).

Emeritus Professor of Clinical Anatomy | Warwick Medical School, UK

Professor Peter H. Abrahams is a distinguished clinical anatomist and Emeritus Professor of Clinical Anatomy at Warwick Medical School, UK. He previously held academic appointments at University College London and the University of Cambridge and served as a Consultant Anatomist to the World Health Organization. His work has focused on advancing anatomy education through innovative teaching methods, including digital and 3D anatomical learning tools. Professor Abrahams is the author of more than 30 textbooks and educational resources, including the widely used McMinn & Abrahams' Clinical Atlas of Human Anatomy, with over two million copies sold worldwide. He is an internationally recognized expert in clinical anatomy and medical education, with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous international awards for excellence in teaching and educational innovation.

Prof. Dr. Nesrin Hasirci

Prof. Dr. Nesrin Hasirci

Northeastern University / METU BIOMATEN Center of Excellence

Professor Nesrin Hasirci is a distinguished biomaterials scientist and professor affiliated with Northeastern University and an Advisory Board member at the METU BIOMATEN Center of Excellence in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. Her research focuses on biomaterials and tissue engineering for the diagnosis and treatment of soft and hard tissues. She has authored more than 250 scientific publications, several books and book chapters, and holds multiple patent applications. Professor Hasirci has delivered over 550 presentations at international and national conferences and has supervised more than 70 graduate theses in biomaterials and biomedical engineering. She is widely recognized for her contributions to biomaterials research and innovation and has received numerous scientific and technology awards, including recognition from the M. Parlar Foundation and the Elginkan Foundation, and is a Fellow of the Science Academy of Turkey as well as an Honorary Member of the European Society for Biomaterials.

Dr. Vladimir Dyo

Dr. Vladimir Dyo

Department of Electronic Engineering | Royal Holloway, University of London

Dr. Vladimir Dyo is a Lecturer in Communications and Signal Processing in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Royal Holloway, University of London. He received an MSc in Data Communications, Networks and Distributed Systems from University College London and completed his PhD in wireless sensor networks. His doctoral research formed part of the EPSRC WILDSENSING project, where he contributed to the development of distributed wireless sensor network systems for wildlife monitoring. Prior to joining Royal Holloway, he held research positions including a visiting role at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory and a research internship at Microsoft Research Cambridge. His research focuses on wireless sensing, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, energy harvesting, and machine learning, with applications in smart environments, infrastructure monitoring, and healthcare technologies. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Access, and Sensors.

Dr. Gladiola Goranci-Buzhala

Scientific Coordinator/Researcher | CECAD, University of Cologne

Gladiola Goranci-Buzhala, PhD is Scientific Coordinator/Researcher at CECAD, University of Cologne (since 09/2024), coordinating lab procedures, animal welfare/genetic engineering, teaching, and leading a project on cell polarity in skin cancer using mouse models and 3D organoids. During Postdocs at CECAD Cologne (2022-2024) and University Clinic Dusseldorf (2020-2021), she modeled cancer mechanobiology/cell fate with iPSC-derived skin/brain organoids, omics analyses (scRNA-seq), presented at prestigious conferences, wrote manuscripts, and supervised medical/master students. PhD (2020, U Cologne) on primary cilia in glioma stem cells; MSc (2013), BSc (Pristina U) in cell biology/biochemistry. 7 high-impact pubs (J Cell Biol 2023; Cell Reports 2021/2020; Nat Commun 2017); CECAD Seed Grant (2023); Co-teaching at University of Prishtina Biology Department (2025) supported by GIZ.

How do I register?

Will the proceedings be published?
